The final step is the grid owner's on-site inspection. They visit to verify the installation meets the required standard, inspect earthing and electrical safety, and issue formal confirmation of grid connection. Once that confirmation is received, the system is fully live and exporting to the grid.
This inspection process typically takes 4–6 weeks from commissioning and is the most common source of variation in overall timeline. HNordic and your installer liaise directly with the grid owner to keep the process moving.
Grid company response time: In areas with high renewable deployment, grid operators can be backlogged. Applications submitted early in Phase 1 maximise the chance of staying on the 16-week schedule.
Planning complexity: Straightforward rooftop or rural installations move quickly. Sites with heritage designations, sensitive neighbours, or complex structural conditions may require additional documentation.
Seasonal factors: Installation can happen year-round, but winter weather may delay civil works. Planning authorities sometimes take longer during summer holidays.
