A WindWhisperer has fewer moving parts than a horizontal axis turbine -- no gearbox, no yaw drive, no pitch control mechanism. That simplicity translates directly into lower maintenance frequency and lower lifetime servicing cost. Routine maintenance consists of a visual inspection every six months and a more thorough annual check.
Six-monthly visual inspection
Every six months, a brief site visit confirms the turbine is operating normally. The inspection covers:
This is a quick, low-cost check. In most cases, nothing is found and the visit takes under an hour.
Annual inspection
Once a year, a full inspection is carried out by your certified installer. This covers:
The annual inspection is the main maintenance event and typically takes a half day.
Because the WindWhisperer has no gearbox, no pitch control mechanism, and no yaw drive, a significant category of maintenance that conventional wind turbines require simply does not exist:
The aluminium rotor is also resistant to the corrosion and fatigue issues that affect fibreglass HAWT blades. This keeps long-term maintenance costs predictable.
Between physical inspections, EcoHub monitors the turbine continuously. The AI system tracks RPM, generator temperature, production output, and battery status in real time. If any parameter moves outside expected bounds, an alert is generated immediately -- covering:
In practice, this means that faults are identified between scheduled visits rather than discovered at the next six-monthly check. Early detection reduces repair cost and prevents short faults from becoming long outages.
All maintenance is performed by your certified HNordic installer -- the same company that commissioned your system. The maintenance contract is a mandatory condition of warranty. HNordic does not support self-service maintenance.
If your original installer is unable to continue servicing your installation, HNordic will connect you with another certified partner in your region. Your EcoHub data, commissioning records, and documentation transfer to any new service provider.
The integrated lithium battery requires no active maintenance within its normal service life. The battery management system (BMS) handles cell balancing, temperature management, and state-of-charge optimisation automatically. EcoHub monitors battery health continuously.
Battery capacity gradually reduces over time -- this is normal for lithium chemistry. Battery condition is reviewed as part of the annual inspection. Replacement planning should start around year 10--12 of the turbine's 20-year service life, depending on usage patterns.
Every HNordic installation includes a maintenance contract with your certified installer. Ask us what that covers for your site and region.
