Every HNordic WindWhisperer installation includes battery storage as standard. This is not an optional extra.
Wind is variable. Battery storage is what converts that variability into a reliable, manageable energy supply.
A wind turbine without storage produces energy on the wind's schedule, not yours. Battery storage decouples generation from consumption — the turbine charges the battery when the wind blows; the battery supplies your load when you need it.
Without storage, surplus wind energy that exceeds your instantaneous demand is wasted or exported at low tariff rates. With storage, that same energy is captured, held, and used when it is worth more.
The WindWhisperer 100 Max and 100 Ultra ship with 430 kWh of lithium battery storage as standard. The 50 kW range ships with 215 kWh.
Peak shaving — drawing from battery rather than grid at peak tariff times directly reduces demand charges. For commercial and industrial customers, demand charges can represent 30–50% of the total electricity bill.
Self-consumption maximisation — energy generated overnight or during low-demand periods is stored and used during the working day, when it directly displaces expensive grid imports.
Grid export management — the system controls when and how much surplus energy is exported to the grid, maximising export tariff income.
Backup resilience — subject to system configuration, battery storage can maintain essential loads during grid outages.
WindWhisperer turbines are fully compatible with solar PV systems. Wind and solar are naturally complementary generation profiles.
The battery storage system manages both generation sources automatically, optimising for self-consumption and grid interaction based on your site's tariff structure.
The recommended minimum storage for each model is sized to deliver meaningful peak shaving and self-consumption benefits. Larger storage can be specified for sites with high overnight consumption or limited grid export capacity.
